Ohangaron HPP nearly meets its annual plan in six months

Published:Branch life

The 2026 plan is 54 GWh. High inflows meant it was almost met in the first half of the year.

Branch director Ibragimjon Rahmanov told journalists that the 2026 generation plan of 54 GWh had almost been met in the first half of the year. Heavy rainfall has kept inflows high, the units are running at full capacity and the branch expects to exceed its annual target.

Over the past four years the plant has been extensively modernised: European-standard sensors on 37 piezometers, fully renewed control systems and software, new dispatch equipment and an overhaul of the hydraulic structures. The oil-pressure unit was upgraded with equipment from Serbia, gates were repaired and steelwork treated against corrosion.

The plant and reservoir employ 77 people, more than half of them young specialists. Water quality is tested twice a week at ten points.
