Design storage 200 million m³, useful storage 188.4 million m³. The reservoir supports 68 GWh of generation a year.
The Ohangaron reservoir is one of the strategic structures of the hydropower system. Fed by the Ohangaron river, it has a design storage of 200 million m³ (188.4 million m³ useful) and an average annual inflow of 740 million m³.
It supplies water to large and micro hydropower plants with a combined 21.3 MW, which generate 68 GWh a year — enough for about 85,000 households.
The dam and reservoir are monitored continuously; instrument data are analysed daily and all readings are within design limits.
